Project Background In 2026, our Thailand client required a complete smart solar street lighting solution for a newly developed industrial and residential mixed-use zone. The customer needed a lighting system that could provide stable nighttime illumination, support CCTV monitoring, and reduce dependence on unstable local electricity infrastructure. Because the site was located in an area with unstable utility power and high maintenance costs, the client preferred an off-grid smart solar street light system with integrated surveillance and environmental sensing functions. The project required not only lighting, but also a multifunctional smart pole capable of supporting security management and future smart city expansion. In this project, the smart solar street light system combined solar power generation, LED lighting, CCTV surveillance, and weather monitoring into one multifunctional pole structure, LED street lights, lithium batteries, CCTV cameras, sensors, and remote monitoring functions into one intelligent pole. It provides off-grid lighting, improves security, reduces electricity costs, and supports smart city infrastructure management for roads, industrial parks, and public spaces. |
Client Requirements Before confirming the project configuration, the client mainly focused on the following technical and operational issues: ▶ Requirement 1: Stable Off-Grid Lighting The area experienced unstable electricity supply, especially during the rainy season. The system needed to maintain stable lighting performance during continuous rainy days while minimizing local maintenance workload. ▶ Requirement 2: Security Monitoring The customer wanted to install HD surveillance cameras to improve safety around roads, entrances, and warehouse zones, especially during nighttime. ▶ Requirement 3: Weather and Environmental Monitoring Real-time monitoring of temperature, humidity, wind speed, and rainfall data was required to support daily site management and operational safety. ▶ Requirement 4: Long-Term Cost Control The customer wanted to reduce trenching costs, cabling expenses, and long-term electricity bills while ensuring system durability for more than 10 years.
Our Technical Solution Based on the project conditions, we designed a customized smart solar street light pole system integrating lighting, surveillance, and environmental monitoring.

Why the Client Chose Us During the supplier evaluation stage, the customer reviewed multiple Chinese manufacturers and focused heavily on engineering support capability and long-term system reliability. They selected us mainly for four reasons. 1. Real Engineering Experience We are not only a lighting manufacturer, but also a project solution provider with extensive experience in smart pole projects, solar street lighting systems, and government infrastructure projects. 2. Customized Design Capability Based on local sunlight conditions, installation environment, and monitoring requirements, we adjusted the pole structure, battery capacity, and sensor configuration for this project. 3. Strong Structural Safety Thailand has strong sunlight, high humidity, and seasonal storms. Our hot-dip galvanized poles and waterproof structural design help the system withstand long-term outdoor exposure. 4. Faster Delivery and Installation Support We offered complete production drawings, foundation drawings, wiring guidance, and remote technical support, helping the client reduce project risks. |
Challenges During the Project Tropical weather conditions created higher requirements for waterproof protection and anti-corrosion performance, and this Thailand project was no exception. ▶ Challenge 1: Tropical Weather Conditions Heavy rainfall and strong sunlight required higher waterproof standards and stronger corrosion resistance. ▶ Challenge 2: Limited Local Installation Experience The local installation team had limited experience with integrated smart poles and environmental monitoring systems. ▶ Challenge 3: Transportation and Packaging Safety Sensitive monitoring devices and solar components required reinforced export packaging to avoid shipping damage.
How We Solved Them We upgraded the sealing structure of the battery compartment and added reinforced waterproof connectors for all sensor interfaces. For waterproof performance, we improved IP protection standards for electrical boxes, battery compartments, and sensor interfaces. For installation, we help detailed CAD drawings, wiring diagrams, video guidance, and online engineering support during commissioning. For logistics, we used reinforced export-standard packaging with internal shock protection for all sensitive components. This significantly reduced installation errors and improved project delivery efficiency. |
Final Project Results
After commissioning, the lighting system operated stably and met the client’s requirements for illumination, surveillance coverage, and remote monitoring.
Project Outcomes |
Result | Improvement |
Electricity Cost | Reduced by nearly 100% for lighting operation |
Installation Cost | Reduced trenching and cable costs by over 40% |
Security Coverage | Full surveillance coverage for key road areas |
Maintenance Frequency | Significantly reduced through remote monitoring |
Energy Efficiency | Fully powered by renewable solar energy |
The client successfully achieved both smart management and sustainable energy goals.

Client Feedback After several months of operation, the client confirmed that the system remained stable during the local rainy season and reduced onsite maintenance frequency. They especially appreciated: ▶ stable nighttime lighting performance ▶ clear surveillance image quality ▶ reliable weather monitoring accuracy ▶ easy remote management system ▶ fast engineering response from our team The client is now discussing the second-phase expansion for additional smart poles in nearby areas. This project has also become a strong reference case for future smart solar street light projects in Southeast Asia. |

Smart Street Lights FAQ
1. Can smart street lights work without grid electricity? Yes. Off-grid smart solar street lights use solar panels and lithium batteries to store energy during the day and power the system at night. This is especially useful for remote areas, industrial parks, and locations with unstable electricity supply. 2. What functions can be integrated into a smart pole? A smart pole can include LED street lights, CCTV cameras, weather monitoring sensors, WiFi devices, public broadcasting systems, EV charging modules, and smart city IoT control systems depending on project requirements. 3. How long does a solar smart street light last? The pole structure usually lasts over 20 years with hot-dip galvanizing. LED lights typically last 50,000–100,000 hours, while lithium batteries usually last 5–8 years depending on battery quality and local climate conditions. 4. Is smart solar street lighting suitable for tropical countries like Thailand? Yes. Smart solar street lights are highly suitable for tropical regions because strong sunlight improves charging efficiency. Proper waterproof design and anti-corrosion treatment are important for long-term outdoor performance. 5.How much does a smart solar street light project cost? The cost depends on pole height, solar panel size, battery capacity, lighting power, and smart functions like cameras or weather sensors. A standard smart pole project usually requires customized engineering quotation based on actual site needs. |
