French style garden lampCassis is a coastal town near Marseille in southern France, known for its historic streets, harbor squares, pastel-colored buildings, and traditional Mediterranean urban landscape. The local municipality planned to upgrade part of the public lighting system in the town center, including pedestrian streets, small plazas, community roads, and courtyard areas. The goal was not only to improve night visibility, but also to preserve the visual identity of the town. Unlike standard municipal street lighting projects, this project required decorative outdoor lighting that could blend naturally into the local architectural style. The customer was looking for a customized European-style courtyard lamp solution with elegant appearance, stable structural performance, and long-term corrosion resistance for coastal use. |
|
Customer Requirements The client provided several very clear requirements during the early communication stage. First, the lamp design needed to match the traditional French courtyard and plaza style. Standard modern street lights were rejected because they looked too industrial and did not fit the town’s visual planning. Second, because Cassis is close to the Mediterranean coastline, the lamp poles and fixtures needed strong anti-corrosion performance against sea breeze, humidity, and salt spray. Third, installation efficiency was important. The municipality wanted faster on-site assembly with lower maintenance difficulty in future operation. Finally, the customer expected the lighting effect to be warm and comfortable, suitable for walking areas rather than high-power road lighting. This was a project where appearance, durability, and maintenance cost were equally important. |
Our Technical Solution Based on the site environment and local usage scenario, we designed a fully customized 3-meter European-style courtyard lamp system.
The final solution included: |
Item | Specification |
Pole Height | 3 meters |
Pole Material | Q235 Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel |
Surface Finish | Outdoor Powder Coating |
Lamp Style | European Decorative Courtyard Design |
Light Source | LED Warm White |
IP Rating | IP65 |
Corrosion Protection | Hot-Dip Galvanizing + Powder Coating |
Installation Type | Anchor Bolt Foundation |
Application Area | Plaza / Pedestrian Street / Community Courtyard |
Instead of using ordinary decorative poles, we strengthened the internal structure to improve wind resistance and long-term stability. The surface coating system was specially optimized for coastal climate conditions, which significantly improves service life compared with standard painted poles. For the light source, warm white LED was selected to create a softer visual atmosphere, which is more suitable for historical streets and public leisure spaces. |
| Why the Client Chose Us The customer compared several suppliers from Europe and Asia before placing the order. Finally, they selected Jieyao Lighting mainly for three reasons. Real Customization Capability Many suppliers could only provide standard catalog products. We offered full customization including lamp head design, pole shape adjustment, flange dimensions, coating color, and packaging details based on project drawings. This reduced project mismatch risk significantly. Strong Export Experience for European Projects European municipal projects usually require stricter communication, clearer technical confirmation, and better delivery control. Our team provided detailed production drawings, anti-corrosion process explanation, and installation guidance before mass production, which improved customer confidence. Better Cost Performance Without Sacrificing Quality Compared with local European sourcing, the customer reduced procurement cost considerably while maintaining the required structural quality and appearance standards. This was especially important for public projects with fixed budget limits. |
Challenges During the Project For this France courtyard lamp project, the main difficulty was not manufacturing itself, but making sure the decorative design, structural safety, and long-term outdoor performance could all meet municipal project standards at the same time. Compared with standard street lighting projects, decorative courtyard lamps usually require more detail control, especially for European public space applications.
The main project challenges are shown below: |
Challenge | Project Risk | Our Focus |
Decorative Design vs Structural Strength | Traditional European-style lamps often focus too much on appearance and ignore wind resistance and long-term stability | Keep the elegant design while upgrading internal pole structure and flange strength |
Coastal Corrosion Resistance | Cassis is close to the Mediterranean coast, where salt spray and humidity can quickly damage ordinary painted poles | Full hot-dip galvanizing inside and outside before outdoor powder coating |
International Transportation Safety | Decorative lamp arms and lamp heads are easier to deform or scratch during sea shipment | Reinforced independent packaging for each component and trial assembly before delivery |
Installation Accuracy | Overseas municipal projects cannot afford on-site assembly mistakes or missing accessories | Strict pre-shipment inspection and complete installation matching verification |
Long-Term Maintenance Cost | Poor anti-rust treatment leads to early maintenance and replacement costs for local authorities | Extend service life through double anti-corrosion protection and stable LED system |
Final Project Result The project was completed smoothly and installed successfully in Cassis town. After installation, the new courtyard lamps significantly improved the nighttime atmosphere of pedestrian streets and public spaces. The lighting became softer, safer, and visually more consistent with the surrounding architecture. The municipality was especially satisfied with the decorative appearance during evening operation, as the lamps enhanced both functional lighting and urban landscape value. This is exactly what decorative municipal lighting should achieve. Not brighter. But better. |
Client Feedback The customer mentioned that the biggest advantage was not only product quality, but also communication efficiency during the customization process. For municipal projects, reliable technical support often matters more than low quotation. They were particularly satisfied with: ▶ fast drawing confirmation ▶ professional corrosion protection solution ▶ stable delivery schedule ▶ safer packaging for international shipment ▶ smooth installation on site This project also created a strong foundation for future cooperation on plaza lighting and pedestrian street renovation projects. |

1. What is the best height for a courtyard lamp in town projects? For pedestrian streets, courtyards, and small public squares, a 3-meter courtyard lamp is one of the most practical choices. It provides enough lighting coverage without creating glare, and it keeps the visual scale comfortable for walking areas. This is why 3m decorative courtyard lamps are widely used in European town lighting projects. 2. Are European style courtyard lamps suitable for coastal areas? Yes, but only if proper anti-corrosion treatment is applied. In coastal towns like Cassis, standard painted poles are not enough. A hot-dip galvanized steel pole with outdoor powder coating can significantly improve resistance to salt air and humidity, helping extend the service life. 3. How long does a courtyard lamp pole last outdoors? For a hot-dip galvanized courtyard lamp pole, the typical service life can reach 15 to 25 years depending on the environment. In coastal areas, durability depends heavily on the quality of galvanizing and coating. Double protection is the key factor for long-term performance. 4. Can you customize French style garden lighting poles? Yes, full customization is available. For this project, the customer required a European-style courtyard lamp that matched local architecture. The design, pole shape, height, color, and mounting details were all customized based on project drawings. This is common for municipal decorative lighting projects in Europe. 5. What is the difference between courtyard lamps and street lights? Courtyard lamps are mainly used for pedestrian areas, gardens, and public spaces where visual appearance matters. Street lights focus more on road brightness and traffic safety. Decorative courtyard lighting, on the other hand, combines lighting function with landscape design. 6. What type of lighting is best for town squares and pedestrian streets? Warm white LED lighting is usually the best choice. It creates a softer and more comfortable atmosphere compared to cool white light, making it more suitable for public spaces like plazas, courtyards, and walking streets. |
